Futurity Program
The Gypsy Vanner futurity is a program for all registered
Gypsy Vanner Horses that qualify under the program rules. Sponsored by the GLGVHC the program has many benefits
for the owners, breeders and the breed in general.
A stallion owner has the bragging rights that his/her stallion
is a "Gold Cup Stallion" This brings attention to their breeding program and singles out the stallion and
his offspring for future sales, shows and events. The Gypsy Vanner Gold Cup Stallion designation can only be used
by nominated stallions.
A mare owner with a nominated mare can look forward to the resulting nominated
foal being eligible to take part in futurity events for many years. It provides a special designation for foals
that the breeders feel are special selective breedings worthy of nomination into the program, providing an elite designation
for the horse.
Even if a breeder does not plan to show in the futurity event a future buyer/owner of
the horse may want a show horse and one eligible for select events such as the Gold Cup Futurity classes. These events include
not only the yearling and halter classes but also many performance futurity championship possibilities.
As the
program grows there will be an increased opportunity for futurity horses to show as futurity classes are added
at more shows. Ultimately the overall winners will then meet in a National Futurity Event. Growth of the
program also provides opportunity for other classes to be added, such as "Gold Cup Stallion" classes.
A Gold Cup futurity foal can provide increased value to buyers and owners. The designation Gypsy Vanner
Gold Cup Futurity Horse (foal/colt/filly) can only be used by nominated horses.
